How we got started...
Melanie and Karli met when Karli hired Melanie to help her with her own wedding. The two hit it off right away and developed a strong bond. After the wedding, they kept in touch and while they had separate wedding planning companies, they were always cheering the other on and helping each other out whenever necessary. They were a team even before they were a team! Then one day, over a couple glasses of wine, the two had a grand idea to combine their businesses and create an entirely new brand together. They felt this merger would allow them to maximize their resources and touch more people. Once again, two strong women with a dream, dove in head first and Whimsical Creative was born.

WHAT IS YOUR WHY?
This is the most rewarding job I can possibly imagine. Every week we're helping couples celebrate one of the most important days of their lives. And when they turn to me at the end of the night and give me a giant hug before climbing into their get-away car, it makes the long hours, late nights, and sore feet all worth it! I could not imagine doing anything else.

I have two cats, Milo and Otis, and a dog named Ellie who is a crazy wacko but I love her so much.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY?
Spend the summer touring the Mediterranean on a yacht.

Most little girls dream of being a bride, but I always dreamed of being a Wedding Planner, thank you Franck from Father of the Bride!

My husband and my little boy, Oliver. I want to lead by example and show him what it means to follow your dreams and work hard.

The one where I ordered a margarita and he then told me he wasn’t old enough to drink….

WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOU SOMEONE WOULDN'T GUESS?
I grew up in East Texas and used to ride horses! I was so close to my grandma, I asked her to take me to the barber and get my haircut just like her. It was an actual chili bowl.

A hot bath with a glass of red wine at the end of a long day.

I was born in Northern Ireland, lived in Southern Ireland for a year, move to Scotland and lived there for 10 years, When my youngest son was 3 weeks old, my husband got a job in Pennsylvania, we lived there for 4 years before moving to Texas 2 years ago. We love
to travel, so far we have done 33 of the 50 states, we plan to do them all asap!

Seeing the grooms face when he sets his eyes on the bride for the first time.

A good book, ice cream, and a cozy blanket.
WHAT IS THE WORST DATE YOU'VE EVER BEEN ON?
I've only dated my husband, but he did take me out to an island about a half mile from the coast of Edinburgh. (Scotland) He forgot to check the tide times and when it was time to go home, we realized the tide had gone in and we were stuck, the coast guards had to come and rescue us!!

Having the ability to build a life full of experiences and memories.

I bought this guy that I had a huge crush on expensive tickets to a MLB game. I don’t even like baseball and he 100% wasn’t into me. I don’t think we said more than 10 words the entire game.

Buy homes for my in-laws, build a vacation house in Bali, and see the Northern Lights, are all up there.

Binging The Kardashians is my guilty pleasure. I also love a good murder mystery.. It’s about balance, right?

WHY DID YOU GET INTO EVENT PLANNING?
When planning my own wedding, I would get overwhelmed and fall into analysis paralysis when trying to research and choose vendors. I decided to hire a wedding planner and that was the best decision I could have made. Since going through that experience, the idea of being that person for others was something that I really wanted to do. To be able to allow the bride and groom to truly enjoy their day with minimal stress!
WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU CAN'T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT?Lip balm/ gloss…I can’t stand having dry lips!

I have a hard exterior shell, but I’m all mushy on the inside.

Rameses, a 16.5 year old chihuahua with an attitude for days!

I'm not always the best at practicing it, but the words I tell myself to stay positive are "be the light you wish to see in the world". How can I expect others to be kind if I'm not kind to myself? These words always calm me.
